10 Week Your Best Body Challenge Welcome Packet

Create an UNBREAKABLE Mindset.

When you hear about a 10-week “Best Body Challenge”…

and the possibility of literally losing 25-30+ pounds of body fat while leaning out and getting into the best shape of your life, what is the first thing you think of? What is the first thought that pops into your mind.

Because the above statement is not a dream, a myth, or a cheap marketing promise. But what is required to make the above a reality is a mind-set that most of us do not embody.

Have you ever pushed passed what you thought was possible?

If you have ever pushed completely out of your comfort zone past all physical ability you thought you had….but you did it anyways…then you have experienced the amazing ability of the mind. (Click here to see one of the most inspirational videos that demonstrates what I’m talking about) I have had the immense pleasure of working with clients who have an UNSTOPPABLE mindset. Because once your mind is set into action, then everything else is possible.

So as we sit here at the beginning of 2011 and at the beginning of our big “Your Best Body Challenge”, I think addressing mind set is the most crucial step to your success.

What does it mean to have an UNBREAKABLE mindset? I have the pleasure of being connected to some of the most well respected fitness professionals in the country, and one of my favorite pros, Billy Beck III runs an amazing program out of Sunrise Florida. He addresses how crucial mindset is when achieving your goals-health, fitness, and beyond. I’ve taken his article on mindset and included it below because it’s THAT GOOD!

Let’s take a look at the definition of “Unbreakable”.

“impossible to break; able to withstand rough usage; able to withstand an attempt to break”

This is a mindset where no one or no thing can faze you. A flat tire becomes a minor inconvenience. Harsh words and negativity from others are like throwing pebbles at a tank. You become bullet-proof, impenetrable to outside forces.

You are in complete control and you do not have to wait. This mindset can be developed by anyone at anytime.

But Take Fare Warning: This is not a permanent state.

Just like exercising your muscles and body, you have to do the same thing with your mind. However, if you consistently and relentlessly challenge it then it will emerge stronger and more powerful with greater ability to overcome adversity and rein triumphant.

3 Steps to master your mind and become UNBREAKABLE:

1. DECIDE exactly what you want.

This is huge. Meandering around with an idea will do nothing to move you forward. But making an acute and exact decision on exactly what you want to accomplish will make it happen. In last weeks blog I gave you a homework assignment in order to get very clear with your decision to change your body. If you haven’t done it yet, do not delay. Go to it right now. Action is key.

Abraham Maslow, a legendary psychologist, introduced the six basic human needs. One of those human needs is the need and desire to grow and achieve. Most of the world’s population, squander their time on meaningless activities like television, surfing the internet or gossiping about others. If you want to live greatly then you must define what you want.

I have a client who came to me about a year ago and during our first consultation she knew exactly what she wanted to change, from the excess fat in her abdomen to her shaky arms to intense desire to become more fit. Within 14 weeks she had accomplished it all.

2. VISUALIZE with intense desire.

What you see in your mind and what you think about constantly is exactly what will show up in your life.

Every time.

I highly recommend putting your goals and vision in front of you every day. Put a picture of you on the fridge, post-its on the mirror, at your desk, and in your car.

And to take it even further, each day spend time visualizing that you’ve already reached your goals. What it feels like, looks like, tastes like. Make the movies so vivid in your mind that it’s as if you are actually living it. The word “obsessive” gets a bad rap, but when you are envisioning your path and destination, then being obsessive will serve you.

3. UNLEASH all hell on your goals.

This is where we seem to fall short. I see the best intentions in the world go down the toilet because of lack of action. Albert Einstein once said, “Never mistake motion with action.” A lot people are busy. Yet being busy is not the goal. You must take specific actions towards the goal. The answer is not to sit around and read a book about it. No, the answer is to ATTACK! Decide what you want. Then see and feel what it will look like once you have it. Do this always and really feel it! Then do whatever it takes to get it. Take Action! Unleash Hell! Be Relentless…never, never, never quit!

I got my inspiration for this

Welcome to YOUR Challenge

I am writing this blog after our first big workout in the park.

We had a great showing and everyone had lots of positive energy and I can see everyone’s excitement about getting in shape. I know it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, but just remember what I said this morning: Showing up is what matters. Congratulations for showing up! We will be there for you every step of the way.

This is the first of many blog postings and articles that will help you along your journey. Today, because of how overwhelming the first workout can be, I want to make sure you have all the info you need and all your questions answered.

If I miss anything here…make sure you post your question below.

What you need to do RIGHT NOW:

  • Decide exactly what it is you want to accomplish over the next 10 weeks.
  • Sit down, get out a pen and paper, and get really clear on a few things: 1) What it is you want to accomplish 2) Why is it so important to you to reach these goals? 3) What will happen to you (externally and internally) if you DON’T accomplish these goals?
  • Get really clear and write as much as you want about the top 3 questions.
  • Now write down what ACTIONS you need to take in order to make it happen. This should be as detailed as possible.
  • Now take a deep breath in, close your eyes, and visualize yourself taking all the actions required to make this your best year yet.
  • Write your goals on an index card and put it on your fridge, your bathroom mirror, in or car, at your desk, and anywhere else you need the reminder.
  • Remember…it takes 21-solid-days to change habits. If you need help with this, that’s what we specialize in! Check out our 21-day CRUSH your New Years Resolution Program.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Attention Saturday Bootcampers:

We are NOT having Bootcamp at Vasona Park this Saturday, May 15th!!!

Instead, we will be HIKING UP JONES TRAIL!!!

WHY?

There is a huge 5K at Vasona Park this weekend (Girls on the Run). We tried to run the Bootcamp last year, and it was next to impossible. So this year, I decided to ditch our normal workout in the park for a fabulous hike up Jones Trail!

We hope to see you all out there for a fun hike up Jones Trail! This is also a great opportunity to bring some of your friends and family out for the hike!

I came across the most amazing video the other day.

Basically, I’ve always liked this super-star, but I had no idea he was so squared away, so inspirational, or so powerfully motivating. If you want a major shot of inspiration today…from
an unlikely source…watch this quick video. You’ll get a kick out of what he says about training
on the treadmill.
It makes me feel like anything is possible.

Happy Valentines Weekend everyone!

Do something for yourself that’s filled with love: watch the video above and get ready to be inspired!

Jones Trail Hike Important INFO!

Attention Be Fit Bootcampers and 10-Week Challengers:

We are NOT having Bootcamp at Vasona Park this Saturday, January 22nd!!!

Instead, we will be HIKING UP JONES TRAIL (or St Joseph’s Hill…to be exact).

Check out the video from our last hike up Jones Trail from Last February:

Hiking up Jones!

DETAILS!

JONES TRAIL HIKE: 8:30AM

  • We’ll meet at the start of the trail…it’s called “Novitiate Park”….and we will get started RIGHT AWAY. Directions are below. Make sure to arrive early with plenty of time to find parking! You could park in down town LG and just walk up to the start, or if you get there early enough, you could park on Jones Road if there’s still parking available. And with all that said…I am HIGHLY ENCOURAGING YOU TO CARPOOL! Parking could be tough.
  • We’ll all start together as a group, but eventually we will split off into smaller groups, so don’t feel that you have to go faster or slower than you want. It’s your hike! And with that said, everyone will go at their own pace. Your bootcamp instructors will be dispersed throughout, but you may not even see us depending on how we get split up.
  • We will have extra maps, signs out with arrows directing you the way to go, and a HUGE group… so if you aren’t sure where to go…just watch the people in front of you!

  • The Hike is about 3 miles (I think…it could be less). We’ll be going up hill (with flat areas) until we get to the top (30-50 min if you walk the whole thing), then we’ll loop it around and head back down (much less time on the way down)

Almost to the top!

APPROXIMATE TIMES TO COMPLETION:

  • About an hour: if you walk the whole thing at a reasonable pace, and walk/shuffle/jog a little on the way down.
  • A little under an hour: if you walk fast uphill and jog the flat parts, and then jog most of the way down.
  • A little over an hour: If you walk the whole thing at a reasonable pace
  • About an hour and a half: If you walk slowly and take lots of breaks.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Bring water and you better eat or I’ll have to open up a can of whip *&^*&. Seriously. We’re not bringing juice boxes. Plan accordingly. (read: cappuccino does not equal breakfast)
  • Don’t bring a mat.
  • If you want to bring “stuff” with you (wallet/cell phone/50lb weights to make it harder ( - : /etc), I would recommend putting it all in a small backpack.
  • It should be a beautiful day, so dress appropriately and wear appropriate shoes.
  • If you’ve never hiked up Jones Trail, you’re in for a treat. It’s a great heart-pumping hike (at least the first half which is uphill…), and you don’t have to drive all the way to the mountains to get a little close to nature.

DIRECTIONS TO THE START OF ST. JOSEPHS HILL HIKE:

FROM ANY HIGHWAY AROUND LOS GATOS, get on HWY 17 going toward Los Gatos:

  • Take the Los Gatos, Hwy 9 Exit (this will put you on hwy 9)
  • Turn LEFT on University Ave. Go until it dead-ends into Main Street.
  • Turn LEFT on Main Street. (***you might choose to park down here and walk up to the start of the trail***)
  • Turn RIGHT on College Ave. (There’s only one way you can turn on College ave.)
  • College ave. will veer right, go up, and veer left.
  • Turn RIGHT on Jones Road. Jones road will DEAD END into Novitiate Park where we will meet.
  • You can attempt to park on Jones Road if you get there early enough, but you might be parking a little further down and walking into the park. PARKING IS LIMITED, so carpool or remember: it’s not a bad idea to park in town somewhere and just walk up College ave to Jones road and meet us at Novitiate park.
