Happy Monday!
In honor of the many readers taking on the Clean & Lean Challenge that starts today, I wanted to share with you how to make homemade almond milk.
If you’ve ever wondered how to “milk an almond”, or wanted an easy (and quite delicious) alternative to dairy and soy milk, then you’ll want to watch this slightly humorous video where I can’t stop laughing about my nut sack.
I can’t help my potty-mouthed humor sometimes, and it kinda shines in the video training above (that’s your fair warning :-).
In addition to my weird sense of humor and spilling almond milk all over my cowboy boots, you’ll also learn:
Exactly how to make homemade almond milk
Why I personally love it even though I also drink dairy milk
Why I recommend it over soy milk 100% of the time
It’s also a staple in the Clean & Lean Challenge.
Here’s how easy it is:
Soak 1 cup of almonds for 1 or 2 nights (the longer you soak-up to 2 nights-the more flavor and creamier it becomes.
Rinse almonds, put in blender with 2 cups of filtered water*
Blend for 2 minutes
Pour through a nut sack and squeeze! (hehehehe!!!!)
Drink and enjoy over the next 1-4 days.
*note: if you use 1 cup of almonds to 1 cup of water, you get a thicker, richer almond milk. I do this to use as cream in my coffee or tea.
My favorite recipe:
Heat a cup up over the stove and add tons of cinnamon, and a just a little grade B organic maple syrup.
I want to know: Have you ever made almond milk? Do you have a specific way of doing it or a great recipe you use? Share below!
Happy Monday and tons of love to you,
xoxo, Audra : )
